Issues and Media

Below are listed issues of ongoing concern. Click the title to read the full posting.

Contradictory Statements: our MPP says she was told one thing, the Board says another. What's the truth? Can you call this transparency? (I'll say "no".) Can I get to the bottom of it? I'll certainly try. My initiative on this issue was reported in the Barrie Advance. Twice.

NEW: My column on the FOI results was published in the Barrie Examiner.
Active and Safe Routes to School: the best way for children to get to and from school is by walking a safe route. Sadly, trends in Barrie may make this less possible in future. Let's turn that around and make walking a routine part of each student's day.

School Maintenance: why do so many of our schools seem to get deemed "prohibitive to repair", which means the costs to bring them up to current standards approach the cost of building a whole new school? Can we afford to let this continue?

High School ARC: What's happening with the Accommodation Review Committee process for Barrie's five high schools? Has the process been botched from the start?

Vote for a Sustainable School Board: What does it mean for a school board to be sustainable? How can we achieve that goal?

Move past blame to find solutions: my column in the Examiner as part of the series about the excellent workshop the Parents for Children's Mental Health hosted for candidates.

Check back for updates, especially on the high school ARC issue as I attend meetings.
